The QNAP TL-R1600PES-RP is an enterprise-grade 16-Bay PCIe JBOD storage expansion enclosure with a 3U short-depth rackmount design. It is designed specifically to expand the storage capacity of compatible QNAP QTS and QuTS hero NAS systems using high-speed PCIe Gen 3 x8 connectivity.

It features 16 hot-swappable drive bays supporting compatible 3.5-inch SATA HDDs and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. With PCIe Gen 3 x8 architecture, the TL-R1600PES-RP can provide up to 64Gb/s data transfer speed in supported configurations.

The enclosure supports JBOD cascading, NAS storage pool expansion, host-based power management, active cooling, and dual 550W redundant power supplies. It is designed for large-scale backup, virtualization, surveillance, multimedia and enterprise data storage.

The enclosure uses PCIe Gen 3 x8 connectivity and can deliver up to 64Gb/s data transfer speed in supported configurations. Compatible QNAP PCIe expansion cards and SFF-8644 cables provide direct high-speed connectivity to the host NAS.

Petabyte-Scale Storage Expansion

The TL-R1600PES-RP supports cascading multiple compatible expansion enclosures. Supported configurations can connect up to 12 JBOD units with 192 hard drives, expanding compatible QuTS hero NAS systems to up to 2.9PB capacity.

Expand Existing NAS Storage Pools

A new RAID group created on the TL-R1600PES-RP can be added to an existing storage pool on a compatible host NAS. This allows storage capacity to be expanded without rebuilding the existing RAID configuration.

3U Short-Depth Rackmount Design

The QNAP TL-R1600PES-RP features a 3U short-depth rackmount chassis measuring 131.3 × 432.4 × 370.85 mm. The compact rack depth makes it suitable for compatible 19-inch server rack deployments.

Host-Based Power Management
